
Davin Youngs is a musician, teacher and photographer based in Chicago, IL.
A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and recent graduate of DePaul's Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies program, baritone Davin Youngs has successfully carved a niche as professional vocalist and teacher in Chicago and abroad. A student of both the operatic tenor, Richard Miller and mezzo-soprano, Elizabeth Mannion, Davin is equally at home in many musical styles from classical to sacred to musical theatre to jazz. For the past seven years he has served as the solo vocalist for the consort in residence at Grace Chicago Church. He has also performed as a soloist and member for six years with the professional choral ensemble, the William Ferris Chorale as well as other professional ensembles and churches throughout the city of Chicago and the Midwest. He gigs regularly at weddings, parties and other corporate occasions. His broad repertoire and large musical vocabulary make Davin a unique and vital contributor to the Chicago music scene.
Davin has taught voice for over 10 years. Boasting a growing and diverse group of students, Davin has worked with professional and amateur adults, teens and children, helping them achieve their desired goals. From preparing auditions for performing arts high schools to starring in Jersey Shore the Musical, Davin's students can be seen and heard throughout the city of Chicago and abroad. He has become known for his approachable teaching style, sound technique and devotion to artistic singing.
As a photographer, Davin's work has been featured in galleries and publication in the US and internationally. Drawing influence from such photographers as Wolfgang Tillmans, William Eggleston, Mark Borthwick and Collie Schorr, Davin's photographs are investigation of his relationships and a map for navigating emotional space. He is equally at home in both fine art and commercial work and takes pride in finding a unique vantage throughout.
