Day 3: METAL

(🎧 or surround sound speakers recommended)

Here’s a quick recap…

  • Metal bowls are often referred to as “Tibetan Singing Bowls” which is not an accurate representation. You can learn more about this in the 2020 Toronto Star Article: ‘Tibetan singing bowls’ are not Tibetan. Sincerely, a Tibetan person.

  • That being said, these are very powerful tools as the sound is quite rich and complex

  • The experience of metal bowls can be quite similar to that of the gong

  • Often metal bowls are placed directly on the body or in close proximity to the body so as to feel the sympathetic vibrations

  • Like the crystal bowls, because of the shape the bowls seem to offer a moving or swirling effect with the sound

  • This again disorients the mind and turns off the focus on location which allows space for more dream like thoughts

  • The sounds of the bowls can be disruptive and dissonant, but also nuanced and beautiful

  • The bowls offer something much earthier and more grounded, an opportunity to move to the core of who we are

  • If crystal is “up and out” the metal bowls are “down and in”

  • It is best to use this recording while lying down
