Day 3: METAL
(🎧 or surround sound speakers recommended)
Here’s a quick recap…
Metal bowls are often referred to as “Tibetan Singing Bowls” which is not an accurate representation. You can learn more about this in the 2020 Toronto Star Article: ‘Tibetan singing bowls’ are not Tibetan. Sincerely, a Tibetan person.
That being said, these are very powerful tools as the sound is quite rich and complex
The experience of metal bowls can be quite similar to that of the gong
Often metal bowls are placed directly on the body or in close proximity to the body so as to feel the sympathetic vibrations
Like the crystal bowls, because of the shape the bowls seem to offer a moving or swirling effect with the sound
This again disorients the mind and turns off the focus on location which allows space for more dream like thoughts
The sounds of the bowls can be disruptive and dissonant, but also nuanced and beautiful
The bowls offer something much earthier and more grounded, an opportunity to move to the core of who we are
If crystal is “up and out” the metal bowls are “down and in”
It is best to use this recording while lying down
